SkyCare Repatriation (part of BM Ambulance Group), delivers specialist medical repatriation and private ambulance services across the UK and internationally. Using state-of-the-art Pilatus PC-12NGX aircraft and CQC-registered road ambulances, our teams provide safe, patient-centred transport and emergency care.

We are seeking motivated and compassionate Ambulance Technician who is ready to work on a ground ambulance including repatriation from Europe. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based pre-hospital care to patients requiring medical repatriation or ground ambulance support.
  • Undertake patient assessment, monitoring, treatment, and handover in line with national (JRCALC, CQC, NHS England) and company clinical guidelines.
  • Safely administer medicines and treatments within scope of practice.
  • Recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies, performing advanced interventions within competence.
  • Operate medical equipment including defibrillators, ECG monitors, suction devices, oxygen delivery systems, and infusion equipment.
  • Provide care with compassion, dignity, and cultural sensitivity, supporting patients and families during high-stress repatriation journeys.

Operational Duties

  • Participate in mission planning and operational briefings with SkyCare Operations and Clinical leads.
  • Assist with loading/unloading of patients, equipment, and medical stores in both road and air ambulance settings.
  • Comply with aviation safety procedures, including patient preparation for flight, cabin safety, and communication with flight crews.
  • Maintain vehicles, equipment, and medical kits in a state of operational readiness, reporting any faults immediately.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with governance policies (electronic and paper-based).

Professional Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including paramedics, nurses, doctors, pilots, and international ground agents.
  • Uphold the standards of regulatory bodies (HCPC, NMC, GMC as relevant), as well as the CQC and EURAMI accreditation requirements.
  • Engage in ongoing CPD, mandatory training, governance meetings, and flight safety training as required.
  • Actively contribute to debriefs, feedback sessions, and continuous service improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection in line with GDPR, company policy, and professional codes of conduct.

Essential Criteria

  • Full IHCD Ambulance Technician Certificate, FREC 5, Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP)  (or recognised equivalent).
  • Valid Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (including IHCD or D1/D2 emergency response driving qualification).
  • Full C1 manual driving licence.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working on front-line ambulances in the UK (NHS or CQC-registered provider).
  • Competence in 12-lead ECG recognition of key life-threatening rhythms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity patients in pre-hospital settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to reassure patients and liaise with families in challenging circumstances.
  • Physical and mental fitness to work in both ground and air ambulance environments (fitness assessments apply).

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional qualifications in critical care transfer, flight physiology, or aeromedical retrieval.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C/Level 2 or above.
  • Previous experience in international repatriation or working with overseas medical partners.
  • Evidence of teaching, mentoring, or leadership within ambulance practice.
