Flight Nurse Coordinator / Flight Paramedic Coordinator
Job Description
This is an opportunity to assist in the coordination of the SkyCare clinical service by answering enquiries, preparing quotations, coordinating missions and assisting with any tasks required to maintain the SkyCare service. This role is suitable for nurses or paramedics.
This position has the potential to develop into a role that includes a high degree of autonomy in specifying the clinical team and operational plan for a commercial medical escort or air ambulance mission under the ultimate supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Answering telephone calls and emails
- Preparing quotes on the SkyCare electronic platforms
- Finding medical crew using WhatsApp
- Liaising with insurance and medical assistance companies
- Answering questions from a patient’s relatives and friends
- Restocking and checking medical bags, managing stock room
- Preparing and cleaning the aircraft, Filling the aircraft oxygen
- Scanning and preparing paperwork post-mission for the governance process
- Driving ground ambulances (where within scope and driving experience/license)
- Cross-covering relevant roles at BM Ambulance when required
As the role develops further, opportunity to:
- Assist with the day to day running of the team
- Helping run training/induction weekends
- Training and mentoring new staff
- Writing guidelines and SOPs
Location
This role will usually be carried out at the SkyCare offices at London Biggin Hill airport so that you can maintain team readiness with clinical bags, equipment and aircraft when there are no enquiries to be dealt with. There may also be some opportunity to work remotely from home. Some days may be based from the Ashford BM Ambulance base.
Contract, hours and pay
It is anticipated that applicants to this post may be at different levels of seniority with unique personal aspirations and expectations for career direction and progression. This could include a full time position, or a less than full time position alongside an NHS or academic role. We therefore invite expressions of interest with a view to discussion of a flexible package of remuneration and other benefits.
We are offering this as a salaried post (PAYE). As a minimum we would expect the successful candidate to be able to work 20 hours per week with a rota pattern to be negotiated. Terms of employment would include a probation period followed by a substantive contract.
Training and Support
Training and support will be provided by Ben Geraghty and Lee Collier for a period of several weeks. Following the completion of training Lee Collier will be your line manager.
