Private Air Ambulance and Medical Repatriation to the UK
If someone is seriously ill or injured abroad and cannot travel safely on a normal passenger flight, SkyCare can arrange a private air ambulance with the medical team, equipment and ground transfers needed to bring them home or move them to specialist care.
We coordinate urgent and planned air ambulance repatriation across Europe and worldwide, including medevac, medical evacuation and complete bed-to-bed medical transport. One SkyCare coordinator manages the journey from the first medical review through to final handover in the UK.
Families do not need to work out the aircraft, medical crew or logistics themselves. Send us the patient’s location, destination and recent medical information and we will explain the safest realistic options, timescale and cost before you decide.
Need an Air Ambulance? Start Here
When a relative is seriously ill abroad, the first question is usually simple: how do we get them home safely?
Send SkyCare the patient’s current hospital or location, their destination and any recent medical report you have. Our team reviews the clinical information and works out what aircraft, medical crew and equipment would be appropriate.
We then give you a clear plan covering the proposed route, medical team, ground ambulances, realistic timescale and quotation. If you decide to proceed, one SkyCare coordinator manages the whole journey.
For urgent cases, you do not need to have every document ready before contacting us. We can tell you what is needed and help obtain the right information from the treating team.
From Hospital Bed to Final Destination
A private air ambulance is more than the flight itself. For most families, the difficult part is coordinating hospitals, ambulances, airports, medical teams and timings across two countries.
SkyCare can arrange the complete bed-to-bed transfer: collection by ground ambulance, airport handling, the medical flight, clinical monitoring on board and the receiving ambulance at the destination.
We liaise with the treating and receiving medical teams so that important information follows the patient and handovers are planned before travel begins. SkyCare is a CQC-regulated provider, and our UK-based team coordinates cases 24/7.
For patients who are medically stable enough for a scheduled airline, a commercial medical escort or stretcher flight may be a more economical alternative. We will tell you when that is realistically suitable.
Specialist Air Ambulance Care for Different Medical Needs
No two patients need exactly the same medical flight. The aircraft, clinical team and equipment are selected around the patient’s condition rather than using a one-size-fits-all package.
SkyCare coordinates private medical flights for adults, children and newborn babies, including complex critical-care transfers. If you are unsure which service applies, send us the medical information first — we will help you understand the safest option.
ICU Air Ambulance
For patients who need continuous monitoring, oxygen, ventilation, medication infusions or other advanced support, an ICU air ambulance can provide critical-care capability throughout the flight.
The medical team and equipment are selected for the individual case, with ground ambulance and hospital handovers coordinated as part of the same journey.
Paediatric Air Ambulance
Children may need a different clinical approach, equipment and medical team from adult patients. Our paediatric air ambulance transfers are planned around the child’s age, condition and current treatment.
We coordinate the flight alongside the hospitals and family so that the journey is clinically appropriate and as calm as possible.
Neonatal Air Ambulance
Premature and critically ill babies can require a transport incubator, ventilation, specialist monitoring and a neonatal clinical team. Our neonatal air ambulance service coordinates these requirements from the sending unit to the receiving hospital.
Every neonatal transfer is individually planned around the baby’s current treatment and clinical needs.

Tell us where the patient is, where they need to go and what has happened medically. A recent medical report is helpful, but you can contact us before you have everything available.
