Why is the PC-12 used for aeromedical transport?
The Pilatus PC-12 is a single-engine turboprop with a pressurised cabin and a large cargo door. Those practical features have made the aircraft family suitable for a range of special missions, including air ambulance work. For medical transfers, the important point is not the aircraft name alone but whether the selected aircraft, crew and equipment are appropriate for the patient, route, airports and clinical plan.

Can a relative travel with the patient?
It may be possible for a relative or companion to travel on some dedicated air ambulance missions, subject to the aircraft configuration, payload, route, operational requirements and the patient’s clinical needs. This is assessed during planning rather than guaranteed in advance.
