Air Repatriation
Neonatal Transport Service | Specialist Air & Ground Transfers
SkyCare provides a specialist neonatal transport service for premature babies, newborns and infants who need carefully coordinated medical transfer in the UK or internationally. Our neonatal air ambulance and ground ambulance teams support hospital-to-hospital transfers with experienced clinicians, specialist transport incubators and equipment selected for neonatal intensive care.
Available 24/7, the service is designed for families, hospitals, case managers and organisations arranging the safe movement of a newborn who may require continuous monitoring, oxygen therapy, ventilation or other advanced clinical support during the journey.
Specialist Neonatal Air Ambulance and Ground Transport
Neonatal transfers require a different level of planning from a standard patient journey. SkyCare coordinates the medical team, aircraft or road ambulance, hospital liaison, airport handling and onward transfer as one connected journey, helping reduce unnecessary handovers and delays.
Depending on the baby’s condition, location and receiving hospital, a transfer may be completed by neonatal air ambulance, specialist ground ambulance, or a combination of both. For international cases, our medical operations team can coordinate the full bed-to-bed transfer between the referring hospital and the receiving neonatal unit.
Our neonatal teams may include consultant-level neonatal doctors, neonatal nurses and critical care clinicians with experience in transporting fragile patients. Each mission is planned around the baby’s clinical needs and the requirements of the referring and receiving medical teams.
Neonatal Intensive Care Equipment During Transport
Our neonatal transport capability includes specialist incubator systems, physiological monitoring, oxygen therapy, ventilation support and emergency medication where clinically required. Equipment and staffing are selected for each individual transfer so that the baby can receive continuous care throughout the journey.
Where an air ambulance is required, we coordinate the clinical transfer from hospital to airport, the medical flight itself and the receiving ground ambulance at destination. This creates a structured bed-to-bed neonatal transfer rather than leaving families or hospitals to coordinate multiple providers separately.
