
Claire Salgin
Claire is a highly experienced neonatal and paediatric nurse with over two decades of expertise in clinical care. Her career encompasses extensive involvement in neonatal and paediatric care, neonatal transport, clinical research, and community outreach. Claire is also a busy mum of three daughters, and in her very limited spare time, likes nothing better than curling up with a hot cuppa and her Mini Schnauzer, Wilma.
Claire is a highly experienced neonatal and paediatric nurse with over two decades of expertise in clinical care across special care (level 1), local neonatal (level 2), and intensive care (level 3) neonatal units. She is also a certified Professional Nurse Advocate, holding a Level 7 qualification, which adds to her extensive skill set in supporting the mental health and well-being of her colleagues and patients. Her career encompasses extensive involvement in neonatal and paediatric care, neonatal transport, clinical research, and community outreach. Claire holds a Diploma in Nursing Studies from the City University of London and has specialised training in Neonatal and Paediatric High Dependency and Intensive Care. Claire has substantial experience in neonatal transport, having served as a Junior Sister with the East of England Acute Neonatal Transfer Service (ANTS), where she was responsible for triaging referrals, managing transport equipment, and ensuring safe and effective care during ambulance transfers. Moreover, she led equipment training for nurses and doctors, managed competency certifications, and supported complex case reviews. As Lead Nurse for the Neonatal Community Outreach Services at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Claire oversaw a cross-site team, ensuring safe and effective care delivery both in-house and within the community, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. She progressed to supporting the neonatal unit at West Middlesex University Hospital as Unit Manager in 2023, further honing her skill set in leadership, clinical governance, risk management, service innovation, and transport logistics. Claire has recently joined SkyCare Repatriation as a Flight Co-ordinator and Neonatal Flight Nurse and is due to begin a new position in summer 2025 as Neonatal Voices Partnership Lead for the Bedford, Luton, and Milton Keynes ICB. She is also co-founder and newly appointed CEO of STORKS – a newly registered charity – whose mission is to support critically ill infants and children, through education, research, and access to specialist clinical care.
