Director of International Medical Assistance
Dr Jon Sen is Director of International Medical Assistance at SkyCare and an experienced neurosurgeon, clinical neuroscientist and international medical assistance specialist with over 15 years experience managing complex medical cases across the world.
Alongside neurosurgical training and practice, Dr Sen has extensive expertise in international medical assistance, having overseen thousands of cases globally, and personally undertaken over 450 international medical repatriations and patient retrievals from Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America, Australasia and other remote regions worldwide. His experience spans commercial medical transfers, road ambulance repatriation, air ambulance transfers and the clinical management of complex, high-dependency cases and high-cost cases.
At SkyCare, Dr Sen provides clinical leadership across medical case management, hospital liaison, treatment review, medical repatriation planning, governance and quality assurance. He works closely with assistance coordinators, insurers, healthcare providers and treating clinicians to ensure that every case is managed safely, efficiently, proportionately and with the highest clinical standards.
Dr Sen is also Senior Clinical Lecturer in Neuroscience at Keele University, where he contributes to postgraduate research and education. His academic interests include solving fundamental neurosurgical problems, aeromedical and retrieval medicine, humanitarian healthcare and space medicine, having designed and participated in internationally recognised neuroscience research on human spaceflight missions with Axiom Space and SpaceX.
His combination of frontline clinical practice, international retrieval experience and academic leadership enables SkyCare to deliver expert, clinically led support for even the most challenging international medical assistance cases.
